Hello everyone!
My big journey has begun, I arrived in tokyo last tuesday. I spent my first three nights in a hostel, and now i`m just about to go to my first couchsurfing host (www.couchsurfing.org). My first impression is; amazing food, very friendly, nice and helpful people, impressive culture and buildings, beautiful nature and a huuge city. But enough said, I'll show you.
Up in the sky
A small shinto shrine next to my hostel
It`s very common those plastic food imitations in front of restaurants, I liked that one particularly, the fork was levitating in the air.
On my first day i took a stroll to a impressive shrine in Asakusa, where I lived.
Near the shrine there was a small japanese-style garden with these beautifully colored fishes.
Statue of a japanese warrior in front of the shrine.
Unfortunately the weather was quite rainy, but still an outstanding view over a city which doesn`t seem to have an end.
I visited the Kitanomaru park where Nippon Budokan ( a martial arts arena), the Science museum and the National Museum of Modern Art is located.
I apparently just missed a karate world championship! :(
I did not understand too much in the Science museum because almost everything was written in japanese...but this was about colored shadows I think, and you could navigate the lights and speed. :D
We were eating in an absolutely lovely small traditional japanese restaurant where you could cook your things yourself.
Of course you have to try karaoke once during your stay in Japan and I have to say it was quite hilarious!!:D
Have you ever seen the black halloween burger? I`ts not super tasty but i just had to try it as a midnightsnack ;)
On the contrary to the bad quality mc donalds burger I`ve had the best fish in a nice japanese restaurant!
I`ve visited the Museum of modern Art the other day and they had this brilliant room called "room with a view" where I took this picture.
I really liked this painting where you could see the influence of western painting techniques combined with japanese motives.
This was my absolute favourite piece of art, i just couldn`t stop looking at it.
To finish with, this in my eyes absolutely hilarious painting, it just looks too funny!! :D
Love from Tokyo
